For yacht sessions, Cannes offers two departure points: the Vieux Port at the foot of Le Suquet and Port Canto at the eastern end of the Croisette, quieter and easier for tender access. Most owners and charter guests anchor off Île Sainte-Marguerite, where the water turns turquoise over the sandbanks and the wake traffic calms after midday. Morning light is best on deck, flat and clean before the afternoon haze builds over the bay. During the Cannes Yachting Festival in September we shoot at anchor, away from the show basins.

Can you use a drone for yacht photography in Cannes?
Drone flight around Cannes is heavily restricted, especially near the shoreline, so we do not promise aerials. We work from the deck, the tender and the water, which covers running shots, lifestyle on board and swim moments without any permit risk. French rules changed on 1 January 2026: the arrêté of 23 December 2025 opened flight over built-up areas to professional operators in the open category, with ten working days notice, a 120 metre ceiling and no flight over uninvolved people. Municipal and prefectural orders can also close beaches to drones between June and September.
When is the best time of day for a yacht shoot in Cannes?
Morning, roughly two hours after sunrise, gives flat seas, clean light and empty water off the Îles de Lérins. Late afternoon works well for golden light on the aft deck. We avoid midday in July and August, when glare and boat traffic both peak.
