1. A private terrace above Pampelonne at sunset

The pine-shaded terraces on the hillside above Plage de Pampelonne get the longest golden hour in the area: the sun sets over the land behind you, so the bay below holds warm light well after the beach itself has fallen into shade. 7. Plage des Graniers, below the Citadel

A few minutes' walk east of the village, Les Graniers is the beach locals keep for themselves: a small crescent of sand, pines leaning over the water, and the whole gulf laid out in front of you. It marks the start of the coastal path, so a proposal here can begin as an innocent evening stroll out of town. By sunset most of the day's swimmers have left and the beach goes quiet. How far in advance should you book a proposal photographer in Saint-Tropez?

For a summer proposal, reserve your photographer at least thirty days ahead. July and August evenings are the first dates to go, because golden hour is short and every wedding, event and proposal on the peninsula wants the same ninety minutes.
